Bringing the Outside In: An Introduction to Chabana

  • Takara Sake 708 Addison Street Berkeley, CA USA (map)

The great tea master Sen no Rikkyu gave us many gifts in the creation of the tea ceremony. Among the most accessible is the art called "chabana" or tea flowers. The simple principles of this delightful art form will be taught in a single, hands-on session so you can enjoy this naturalistic beauty in your own space. This workshop is taught by Barbara Stevens-Strauss, Berkeley-Sakai Sister City Association Board member and local artist, and will take place at Takara Sake, 708 Addison Street, Berkeley, from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, price $50 (limited to 15 participants). Visit www.berkeley-sakai.org for more information and to sign-up.
