Executive Yosuke Machida Bio:

Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, A16 Executive Chef Yosuke Machida fell in love with cooking during college while working in an award-winning Spanish restaurant.   After graduating college, Chef Machida decided to pursue a career as a chef.  He moved to the U.S. in 2009, and worked as a line cook at Casanova and its sister restaurants in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.  He then moved to San Francisco, where he learned from some of the country's most heralded chefs, working with Chef Jan Birbaum at Epic Roasthouse, Chef Roland Passot and Chef Hiro Sone at Ame.  Eventually Chef Machida was promoted from Executive Sous Chef at Ame to Executive Chef.   In 2015, Chef Machida became Executive Chef position at Chambers at the Phoenix Hotel. In 2018, he joined the Big Night group, and worked as a Chef De Cuisine at Leo's Oyster Bar and Park Tavern.   As Executive Chef of A16 Restaurants, Chef Machida will soon be visiting A16 Tokyo and A16 Yokohama as the travel bans lift and we can resume a return to health and business in the world 2022.

"My cooking philosophy reflects my Japanese heritage and life in California. I enjoy creating simple yet well-made dishes, balanced to perfection." - Chef Yosuke Machida
