Dear U.S.-Japan Sister City Citizen Diplomats,

I am honored to announce that San Diego, California and Tijuana, Baja California will host the third U.S.-Mexico Mayors’ Community Summit from October 11th to October 14th, 2022.

While the title does say “U.S.-Mexico”, this summit is open to ALL CITIZEN DIPLOMATS. Sister city organizations that do not have a sister city or friendship city in Mexico are welcome! You also do not have to be a member of Sister Cities International to register.

So much of our sister city best practices are universal. This summit provides an opportunity to share the successes resulting from binational friendship, cooperation, and mutual respect. It will explore innovative and sustainable ways of collaborating in key areas such as economic cooperation, global challenges, and cultural diplomacy. This is also an amazing opportunity to experience the rich culture of Tijuana, Mexico and the deep ties with its neighbor across the border, the beautiful city of San Diego. Perhaps it can even serve as a model for a similar future gathering of U.S.-Japan sister cities!

I invite you to San Diego and Tijuana this fall to participate in the U.S.-Mexico Mayors’ Community Summit. The summit will include speaking opportunities and select sessions designed to hear directly from mayors and elected officials as well as networking opportunities and workshops for best practices in citizen diplomacy.

To request additional information, please email specialevents@sistercities.org or call (202) 347-8630.  To RSVP and to see current agendas and other updates, please visit the summit website - www.usmexicosummit.org.

I look forward to seeing you this fall. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Peter Svarzbein
Chairman of the Board
